Two ways to find a file
Folders follow the directories on your drive. Use them when you know which trip, project or camera folder holds the file. Timeline groups media by date, so you can jump back to a month without remembering a folder name.
Favorites keep items you choose close by. History helps you return to watched videos, and longer videos can resume where you left off. Photos can run as a slideshow with background music when the media has no audio of its own.
Direct access over SMB
Archive connects to an SMB share on a NAS, Mac or Windows PC across your local network. You provide an account with access to that share; there is no separate library import or cloud upload. The app's setup guide walks through connecting and troubleshooting.
Control the TV from your phone
Archive serves a web page from the Apple TV itself. Open it in a browser on the same network to browse, search and start playback on the TV. You can set a PIN for that page in the app's Network settings.
What about large video files?
For supported footage, Archive downloads ahead during playback to reduce network stalls. The Apple TV must still be able to decode the video. Read the large 4K file guide for the distinction.
